Meet Marc Thornton

Meet Rahat Akhtar

Rahat is our ICT Service Delivery Manager. Here's what Rahat has to say about her role:

"I joined the Combined Authority in 2017 as an ICT Service Desk Coordinator, managing the service desk team in a job share role. I moved from a private organisation into the public sector as I was looking for a part time role as a working mum. This role met all my requirements and has allowed me to develop my career. I started off as a part time ICT Service Desk Coordinator, to full time ICT Service Desk Coordinator and now ICT Service Delivery Manager. The flexible working hours and hybrid working has allowed me to maintain in a full time role and gain a fantastic home and work life balance.

The DTS department offers a wide variety of services therefore we are consistently developing our skills and growing together. We have adopted ITIL processes which has allowed us to enhance our ICT service quality and align our ICT operations with business objectives. We are a small department, who work closely together allowing us to share ideas and ask for assistance easily. We offer ICT support to colleagues working from various locations that include the office at Wellington House, home and the Travel Centres across West Yorkshire"

Meet Charley Lynch

Charley is one of our DTS Infrastructure Engineers.  Here's what Charley has to say about his role:

"I was first employed at the Combined Authority as a First Line Apprentice, fresh out of college at 18 years old and looking for work. I needed somewhere willing to tutor and guide me as I started my career in IT and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority did just that. I’m 22, almost 23 and now working as a Third Line Infrastructure Engineer. It is a fast moving and exciting space with a new challenge to face every day. Whilst that may seem daunting at first, the colleagues are what make it worth it; everyone is willing to help you out, give advice and point you in the right direction. Most of what I know is from working through challenges here and it has given me amazing opportunities to better myself not only professionally but also personally.

I feel proud to be working in this company and adopting new technologies all the time to improve business function. In ICT we are responsible for making sure everyone works smoothly which includes not only internal staff but also the Bus Stations / Travel Centres locally and the Mayor of West Yorkshire."

Meet Daniel Marshall

Daniel is one of our DTS Service Desk Technicians.  Here's what he has to say about his role:

"Working for West Yorkshire Combined Authority service desk has been a great test of my skills. Building devices, problem solving and managing requests has honed my ability to balance my work load.

With an exceptional team and great comradery, issues can be shared to the group to help them get solved quickly and have knowledge shared to each other. We easily keep ourselves motivated with shared interests within and out of work that strengthen our teamwork."
