Enterprise Zones (EZs) are seen as a key part of the Government’s national agenda to devolve responsibility for growth and incentivise additional economic development. The key focus and Vision for the Enterprise Zones as set out in the SEP is ‘‘the acceleration of development and delivery of high quality employment floorspace in the advanced and innovative manufacturing and complementary sectors’.

Covering an area of 142 hectares the Aire Valley Leeds enterprise zone enjoys superb transport links being located at Junction 45 of the M1 and benefits from close proximity to Leeds city centre, the main driver of the regional economy, with fast, frequent and high quality bus connections. This makes it the ideal location for companies in the health technologies, low carbon manufacturing, logistics and distribution, renewable energy and waste management sectors.  The recent announcement by HS2 that the Gateway 45 site is to be the location for the Eastern Leg depot also opens up opportunities for the rail industry and its supply chain.
