Priority 4C Flood Alleviation

West Yorkshire Combined Authority is investing  £20 million in a City Region-wide programme to bolster protection for homes and businesses from the devastating effects of flooding, such as the Boxing Day 2015 flooding which caused many millions of pounds worth of damage across the city region. Scientific consensus suggests that such flooding events will become more common in the future so it is crucial for us to invest in protecting the people, homes and business in our city region.

Schemes we have already funded include innovative use of moveable weirs in Leeds to provide 22,000 homes and 500 businesses with added protection against flooding.
