The West Yorkshire Combined Authority is seeking to strengthen its Implementation team which oversees a £1bn plus portfolio of capital projects.  These projects are delivered by the Implementation Team.

The role

The Senior Project Manager (Rail) is a key function within the project management team. This role is to deliver capital projects within the rail sector, which is an essential part of the Combined Authorities delivery. You will:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of complex projects and programmes of projects in a rail environment in a safe manner.  These include rail accessibility schemes, rail station car parks, station refurbishment and new rail stations;
  • Must have an understanding of the Government of Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) process, understanding of rail industry sector including standards, CDM and CSM and current legislation;
  • Knowledge and understanding of rail industry investment processes and operational planning, commercial and procurement regulations and practices would be desirable;
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams including commercial, cost management, technical, legal and project management disciplines;
  • Lead on the implementation and management of resource allocations in order to deliver projects;
  • Manage the development of business cases, scope and tolerances of project.  
  • Lead on the development of requirements to achieve strategic business outcomes;
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including Network Rail, Train Operating Companies (TOCs), district partners and private developers ensure their requirements are being met;
  • Have a collaborative working style and be a team player; and
  • Help to deliver projects on time, to quality and budget in a fast moving project environment.
