  • A62 (Huddersfield to Cooper Bridge), A644 Corridor

    Updated December 2016

     A62

    A62 approaching Cooper Bridge

Extensive highway improvements are planned along the A62 from Huddersfield Ring Road up and including the junction of A62 / A644 / Leeds Road at Cooper Bridge. The overall  ambition will be to reduce peak period travel times for all road users. The proposed scheme includes a major redesign of the Cooper Bridge Junction in addition to capacity improvements at a number of key intersections along the A62.

The proposed improvements on the A644 from Dewsbury Ring Road to M62 at junction 25 includes proposals to reduce traffic flow on the A644 in and around Ravensthorpe and road widening of the A644 between Cooper Bridge and Motorway.

These proposed improvements are part of a long term phased delivery plan for the A62 / A644 which will ensure that all aspects of supporting infrastructure; highways, public transport, cycling, walking, green spaces are provided in a timely manner alongside the new developments.
