  • Aire Valley Leeds Integrated Transport

    Updated December 2016

Aire Valley P&RThe package includes a new link road and bridge to be constructed crossing the river and canal. Modifications to the existing junctions on Pontefract Road would be required, and the new park and ride would be constructed near the sewage works site south of the A63. Adjacent deprived areas would be more able to access employment, including around 40,000 new jobs in the Area Action Plan (AAP) area. The new park and ride would assist the city centre parking strategy.

A dedicated high frequency bus service would provide two way access to the city centre and to the Aire Valley growth area.

The package will be split into the following delivery phases:

Phase 1 - Included in ‘early wins’ schemes.
    • 1000 space park & ride site adjacent to A63 ELLR
(Feasibility complete, Planning application April 2014, Start construction 2015, opening 2016)

Phase 2 - planned delivery as part of WY+TF, but not part of initial ‘early wins’
    • North south link road
    • New bridge over river and canal.
    • Modifications to existing junctions on Pontefract Road.

Phase 3 - planned delivery as part of WY+TF, but not part of initial ‘early wins’
                     Improvements to M1 J45.
