  • A65-Airport-A658 Link Road

    Updated August 2016

Leeds Bradford International Airport is the primary airport for Yorkshire and is particularly important to the Leeds City Region. LBIA has recently shown patronage of 3.4 million passengers per annum and the airport’s new masterplan (Route to 2030) forecasts patronage to increase to 7.1 million by 2030

A link road is proposed, which will connect the A65 north of the outer ring road, with the A658 and will serve the Airport, as well as through traffic. This is intended to improve travel times to the airport by car and bus, relieve congestion on the radial routes and reduce rat-running on unsuitable minor roads.

The link road scheme is being studied alongside other surface access improvements for the Airport and the wider area. The Combined Authority is currently studying options for Airport rail access and it is intended that road and public transport improvements will together form part of an integrated strategy.
