Is this OK?
Leeds City Region is at the heart of the UK, well connected by road, rail, and air. London is two hours away by rail, and there are hourly direct trains to Edinburgh. The City Region also offers fantastic connectivity to the continent with Paris or Amsterdam 90 minutes away by air, direct from Leeds Bradford International Airport.
Our modern cities are surrounded by three national parks and stunning countryside – including the Dales and Yorkshire moors. Our beautiful villages and striking towns are steeped in history, such as Haworth and its famous Bronte Sisters, the Salts Mill in Bradford, birthplace of the artist David Hockney, and the Piece Hall in Halifax.
We have plenty of family-orientated activities such as Eureka, the Children’s Museum, Harewood House and Nostell Priory. Harrogate, home of Betty’s Tea Rooms, has been voted one of the best places to live in Britain by the Sunday Times.
We are establishing a global reputation for major sporting events, having played host to Le Tour de France Grand Depart in 2014 and the Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds in June 2016.
We also have the First Direct Arena, a major entertainment venue located in the vibrant city centre of Leeds, which has played host to notable musical artists and the MOBO awards, since opening in September 2013. The Arena has also hosted a number of events including Sports Personality of the Year, Le Tour De France Grand Depart, Championship Boxing and Premier League Darts.
And if food’s your thing…sophisticated dining, quirky cafes and the street food revolution have all come together to make Leeds a must visit destination for foodies. If you’re after celebrity dining then Leeds is the place to head for. If you’re looking for something more in the line of street food, then Trinity Kitchen is a must, rotating five new street food styles so you can experience different cuisines all under one roof.
Venturing further afield, the city region has an abundance of Michelin-starred restaurants so there really is something for all tastes.
Shopping in Leeds is quite simply off the scale. Our high streets and shopping malls combine the beauty of both modern and period architecture. We have luxury and high street brands in abundance, including Harvey Nicholls and the largest John Lewis outside London.
This quality of life is matched by our affordability, with the costs of living in the region being lower than many other cities including Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham and at £230,000, the average detached home here is £80,000 cheaper than the average apartment in London.
