Policy Managers x 4 Post Ref. PSC/E5

Grade M SP1-4 £44,483 - £51,507 per annum. Closing date 21st August. Interviews will take place w/c 11th and 18th September 2017. Based in Leeds City Centre

West Yorkshire Combined Authority is the driving force behind local partners’ collective efforts to make the Leeds City Region known globally as a place where everyone can combine economic success with an outstanding quality of life. Our main goal is ‘inclusive growth’ – ensuring all our people and places are able to contribute to, and benefit from, economic prosperity.

Underpinning this ambition, our Policy, Strategy and Communications teams develop the policies and strategies that enable us to determine our priorities for the organisation – and secure the investment to deliver them.

At WYCA we have a single Transport & Economic Policy Team, working across a range of diverse and interrelated disciplines. We are now looking to appoint the following four Policy Managers within our transport and economic policy team, which would lead their areas:

Head of Labour Market Policy, leading the development of the policies that will give the city region the workforce of the future

Head of Regeneration and Place-Making, leading thinking on how best to deliver spatial priority areas, including identification of opportunities for investment

Head of Strategic Networks – leading the region’s agenda on strategic roads, driving forward our ambitions for cycling and walking and the roll out of broadband

Head of Future Mobility – developing our policy for mobility as a service and how technology can drive an improved customer experience.

These are exciting opportunities to be senior members of the team, responsible for working with partners to shape the policy agenda and influence local, regional and national decision-making. You will have extensive experience in relevant policy and have led teams to find solutions to dynamic challenges.

You will have strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate insights fluently to a range of audiences. You will have experience of working with a range of stakeholders, including being comfortable working with senior leaders in the public and private sectors.

You may have developed your career in transport and economic policy, working in local or national government, or perhaps in one of the support organisations such as consultancy, academia or think tanks.

With its vibrant, energetic feel, the Leeds City Region is one of the most attractive areas to live, work and play in the UK. If you enjoy working and living in a place full of pace, innovation, challenge, opportunity, change and dynamism then these could be the roles for you.
