Projects Assistant (Transport Projects) Post Ref. D/I4b

Grade H SP1-4 £23,221 - £26,887 per annum. Closing date 27th July 2017. Based in Leeds City Centre

 Over the next few years the Transport Projects team has an exciting multi-million pound portfolio of work to oversee including the construction of 4 potential new rail stations, the improvement of bus related infrastructure including bus stations, leading delivery of the regional Ultra Low Electric Vehicles programme, supporting Leeds Council in the £173m Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme and expanding car parking facilities at rail stations across the region.  Projects Assistants provide support to the Project Manager in the planning and delivery of major infrastructure projects.  

This is across all aspects of a project including monitoring delivery in accordance with plans, procurement of and managing suppliers, undertaking budget administration such as processing invoices for payment and tracking finances, chasing actions on contractors and third parties, undertaking project publicity and public consultation, coordinating actions on joint parties, participating in site visits, preparation of briefs for work, managing work packages that form a part of more complex projects, liaison with contractors and coordinating and taking notes of meetings. 

 They also carry out the project manager role to plan and deliver ‘low cost/low risk’ projects and support Case Officers assessing projects delivered by others.  Each Project Assistant has a project manager as line manager but can be working on a project under that or another project manager or a mixture at any one time
