    Appointment of Independent Member to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Governance & Audit Committee

    The West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) is looking for an independent person to serve on its Governance & Audit Committee. The role is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses for travel and subsistence will be paid.

    The purpose of the Committee is to review and scrutinise WYCA’s financial affairs, including its risk management, internal control and corporate governance arrangements. The role will also enable you to gain an insight into how WYCA operates.


    We are seeking applications from people who have experience in matters of:

    • audit
    • risk management
    • performance management 
    • corporate and financial governance and controls. 


    Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

    • the ability to think strategically
    • analyse information 
    • question effectively
    • effective interpersonal skills 
    • high standards of personal integrity.

    There are strict legal provisions determining eligibility of persons applying for this post - please refer to the eligibility criteria set out in the role profile. 

    The role is a voluntary position but reasonable expenses for travel and subsistence will be paid.

    The Committee currently meets approximately five times per year at WYCA’s offices in central Leeds.
